DESCRIPTION

The Space Between is the delicate balance between technique and trust in our intuition. It’s how we discern between what we take in and what we leave behind in our process of creating.

The definition of intuition is the ability to grasp something immediately, without conscious reasoning. It typically follows instinct. What is intention in a painting practice? Intention is setting a plan toward an outcome, but not attached to the outcome. For example, we can intend to use certain materials, or we can intend to experiment and allow for surprises.

During our time together we will explore a deeper relationship with the images we make. You will be guided along the way with idea-generating prompts and guided visualizations. Together we will conjure images from our deep wells of imagination and intuition. The colors and shapes we choose will be our guidepost to finding meaning in what is called the Space Between. The space between intuition and intention is where creativity flows. It cannot be forced, only cultivated.

Beginner to Advance levels are welcome just as long as you have a curious mind. This workshop is excellent for those that need a jumpstart on an existing art practice or for those that want to explore the inner dimensions of their internal selves through play and paint.

Stacy Phillips Bio

Stacy Phillips is a full-time mixed-media artist since 1987. Stacy currently lives in Salt Lake City Utah and is a working artist for Golden Artist Colors for the state and the surrounding area. She has been a coach for Nicholas Wiltons Art2life Creative Visionary Program since 2019.

“There are infinite possibilities and challenges in creating work when you think of the materials and concepts that are available to the open mind. I am fascinated and addicted to the process of making art. To be submersed from the beginning of an idea through the course of execution is the state of the creative process that I wish to reside. My intent is to absorb as much about this process as I can both technically and conceptually in my life time. To challenge myself throughout the journey of creating art and to maintain the passion of the desire.” Stacy Phillips
