Join us for a collaborative exploration of mixed-media demonstrations tailored to your requests. Before delving into techniques, take a moment to reflect on why a specific method resonates with you. While accumulating a toolbox of skills is valuable, our focus is on nurturing your personal voice and understanding the significance behind each technique, fostering confidence in expressing your unique artistic identity.
As we progress, we'll delve into a more refined exploration of texture, incorporating elements such as collage, paint, and beyond. Together, we will work from the ground up with many options to play and explore. Dry, wet, mark making, handmade gesso, joint compound, acrylic paint, oil sticks, cold wax. There is no formula or a linear procession, but there are a few tricks to enhance the development of your authenticity.
Discussions on the philosophical and personal relationship to your working process will all be part of the workshop. Risk-taking is encouraged. Some experience is suggested.
A material list will be provided. Bring a canvas or odds and ends you may have considered using in art but are never sure just how. Bring uncompleted work as well. Informal discussions and critiques will concentrate on the practical and outrageous, challenging all our preconceived methods of working, thus expanding the technical and aesthetic considerations that inform an art practice.
