DESCRIPTION:

We live in a highly competitive art world. If we simply throw what we make out into the world hoping something sticks we will be drained of our precious life force. We will be defining what we do and it’s inherent value. From there we can seamlessly flow into branding our best work to a defined audience.

This is not a typical “one size fits all” course in how to bring your artwork to the audiences of the world. We begin with a foundation by formulating an individualized action plan. This is rooted in first becoming crystal clear as to understanding exactly what and why it is you create the work you do. This in turn builds confidence and self-empowerment as you prepare to share your work with the outer world.

Some objectives we will be visiting as a group and individually are as follows:

  • Becoming clear on what you want to achieve by making your work publicly visible

  • Practice naming precisely what you are doing and why

  • Setting clear boundaries between time in your studio alone and outreach

  • What does the process of sharing your work with the world really look like so you can be prepared on multiple levels

  • Moving beyond your art speaking for itself to defining your mission statement

  • Revising and revisiting our artist's statement to eliminate any residue of art jargon that distinguishes you as an individual voice from the crowd

  • Editing and curating our best works to approach the shows and venues that are a good fit

  • Research techniques and a proper protocol for finding the right venues for exposure and exhibiting work that is individualized to you

  • Defining what risk-taking means in the work you make and present to the world. Why is risk-taking important?

  • Individual course creation specific to your path as an artist.

TESTIMONIALS

Coming from corporate America I had overdeveloped the left side of my brain trying to fit in. I had squashed my creative feminine side- but did not even know. I craved coming home to nurturing beauty, to jump off a cliff. I spent the first half of my life wanting to be seen; I want to spend the second half of my life seeing. Lauren has a tremendous gift with an unconventional way of teaching. She creates a safe space that encourages resonating with our inner truth first and foremost, bringing our inner light out, then giving us the techniques and tools to do that.

-Tracy King, Santa Fe Artist

Sometimes the right workshop comes along at just the right time and it's magical. Lauren’s was that and more - truly, the best experience I've ever had in a group setting. Thank you for all the work, guidance, encouragement, and challenges.

-Diane Sandlin, Artist, Austin, Texas
