The Benefits of Having a Painting Practice
First and foremost, it’s healing!
I believe art saves lives and is a healing balm for the world. It calms the nervous system and gets us moving from the left logical brain to the right creative brain. The world could use more of that. We need this exact right-brain problem-solving, thinking outside of the box skills as we move into the next phases of evolutionary growth upon our planet.
Painting opens up all our senses. When we engage in the act of painting, once we step away, we actually see more colors, hear sounds and fire off our perceptual understanding of the world in a deeper way. We expand our awareness and improve our problem-solving skills.
When we are no longer “trying” to figure something out. The answer comes.
Painting creates space for our intuition to work its magic.
This post is part of a short series that explores the Practice of Painting a Primary from a professional lens.
