Ambiguous Voice or the Magic of In-Between

Division.

Dividing sides of individuals, values, community, states and countries.

I find myself contemplating our differences in this world and wonder if this is a forever new normal.

The unknown is scary.

I remind myself that as creatives our jobs are to open portals, and to transform the ambiguous into visionary inspirations.

We don’t take things at face value… we discern.

With respect, which at its core means to look again, we are able to keep our creativity fresh and alive.

We get to flex our big, beautiful minds outside the lines.

There are no superficial answers to complex differences.

When I’m painting I find staying present to my mind, to my deepest, wordless experiences is what transforms the questions themselves.

This world is always going to hand us opinions and choices. Things may never be black and white, though appearing to the outside world to be just that.

We can choose to settle for the seductive, easy surface of things….

Us, floating along in shallow water with the sun on our backs, taking in the horizon from a sideways glance.

Or we can dive on in with our brilliant minds and push the waters ambiguous unseen edges.

I’m reminded here of the Temperance card in the tarot deck.

Moderation. Balance. Justice. And Discernment

A card representing perfect harmony that comes from the union of dualities.

One of the traditional images is of an angel with wings

One foot is in water representing the subconsious, while the other foot is on dry land .A representation of the material world.

The angel holds two cups where she mixes the waters together.  Water flows in a diagonal line, defying gravity. A bit of magic and alchemy in the making.

In this in-between sacred space, lines are blurred, and division and duality answered.

Temperance, an answer to the hard and blurry, is where all mixed ingredients become more than the sum of its parts.

Whether making paintings or busy being a multi-dimensional visionary, it takes patience in peeling back the veils and bringing our ambiguous voices (or unconscious incarnate) to the surface for flirtation…

I would love to hear your thoughts… what ambigous voice are you fliritng with these days?
