A Leap of Faith

Laruen Mantecon, Laurie , charcoal on canvas, 20 x 16, 1999

As a mentor, I often find myself coming up with phrases and mantras to assist my clients on their journey. A popular one when I sense a pause of not sure where to go next I will say: “ok now Bust A Move.” I have uttered these words so many times, but upon deeper reflection, I wonder what I really mean by this.

A Leap of Faith requires us to be Brave. It asks us to rise to an occassion when a calling for change is felt. In painting an inner calling might start as a whisper and become louder over time. We can either take heed of the calling, or we can freeze- even becoming complacent. When we are content in life, risk-taking is not usually high on our radar. However, when heading towards life change, what better way to practice than with our paintings? This is where we move. Make any move. Sometimes the more uncomfortable the better! What do you have to lose? It’s just canvas, wood, or paper.

To Be Brave asks us to take a leap of faith, to push ourselves toward growth.

The more I am present and show up for what the moment calls from me in my painting practice, the more I see this reflecting in synchronicity with life events as well.

As I look ahead to 2023 with my new offerings at Mantecon Studio, I see a new depth emerging. Each new workshop highlights the individual process and an inner reflection of our core soul selves. We will discover tools to support (developing) bringing our voices forward.

What does Being Brave and Busting a Move look like for you?

Do you need to make a change?

Would love to hear your thoughts.
