Art as Self Empowerment

Someone who has Creative Sovereignty is one who possesses the ability to perceive inspiration from all areas of life life and create something from nothing.

To embark on the path of an artist, one must act courageously. One must trust in their own creative visions and bring them to life!

It’s a practice.

What is required of us are tiny or large repetitive acts of risk-taking, refinement, and stamina to see our visions through into tangible forms.

And what do we receive in return?

Hopefully, we are endowed with deep inner trust, discernment, a knowledge of the value of our work, and a feeling of self-empowerment. This is the process of learning to trust our own instincts and having conviction in our work. Then we learn the skill of choosing what to share with the outer world.

The question I have been asking many of you out there is this…

When becoming serious about your art, do you search for outer validation too soon?

And, just how would we define “too soon” when you are engrossed in the time-consuming process of professionalism in the arts?

It’s a delicate balance- internal exploration versus external validation.

This topic is worthy of some thought. It can be dangerous to start relying on what others think and say about our work too soon. You know you are in trouble when you start to question what you’re doing before you have taken the time to define what it is you do- for yourself.

But, it’s worth it.

Thank you for reading! I hope this sparked something in your creative journey.
